The Department of Lifelong Learning & Extension, established in 1978, is a statutory department of the University of Mumbai that provides flexible continuing education options to foster community interactions.
On World Environment Day, 15 volunteers visited Powai Lake, where we explored its rich history, learned about the diverse species that inhabit the area, and gained new skills. The visit deepened our appreciation for the lake’s ecological significance and the importance of protecting such natural treasures.
Stakeholder Workshop: We organized a workshop on “Water Quality Monitoring and Assessment of an Urban Lake,” dedicated to the late Dr. M.S. Kodarkar. Jointly hosted by Pune Vidyarthi Griha’s College of Science & Technology, MSAA, Dharitree Environment Foundation, AIGFA, and NASS, the workshop focused on improving urban lake management.
On the occasion of World Oceans Day, we organized an event called the Digital Poster Making Competition. Participants were invited to create digital posters highlighting the importance of ocean conservation and raising awareness about the challenges our oceans face. This competition aimed to inspire creativity while spreading a powerful message about the need to protect and preserve our marine environments
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, we organized a yoga session in our seminar hall, which was attended by over 67 participants. The session provided an opportunity for individuals to practice mindfulness and physical well-being, emphasizing the importance of yoga in promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle. The event was a great success, bringing together a diverse group of people to celebrate the benefits of yoga
On World Population Day, July 12, we organized an essay writing competition on the topic “World Population Day.” The event, which saw participation from 35 members, provided an opportunity for students to express their thoughts and insights on population-related issues.
On the occasion of Independence Day, we organized an event called “Tringa in Harmony” through a poster-making competition held on August 14th. The event saw active participation from 55 members, each showcasing their creativity and patriotism through their artwork. The competition aimed to celebrate the spirit of unity and freedom, encouraging participants to express their love for the nation in a visual and artistic form.
On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, we celebrated a special event called “Shukriya Bandhan” on August 20th. This post-Raksha Bandhan event was dedicated to honoring social workers who protect and make us feel secure in our society. We expressed our gratitude by tying rakhi and thanking them with this beautiful ceremony. Held in our college area, the event saw the participation of 40 members, who came together to acknowledge and appreciate the crucial contributions of these unsung heroes.
In this event student showcased their entrepreniual flair by participating. Food as the main source of energy and how it can be made quick and without the use of fire.
On 1st September, we attended the Yuva Sanvaad event organized by the Nationalist Congress Party. The youth raised concerns about job opportunities, education costs, and environmental sustainability. The panel discussed solutions, including skill development programs, increased scholarships, and initiatives for renewable energy. It was a productive dialogue addressing key issues faced by the younger generation.
On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, 5th September, our DLLE team organized a heartfelt celebration to honor our esteemed teachers. We began by presenting each teacher with a handmade card and a sweet gesture in the form of chocolates. The celebration continued with a cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing our gratitude and joy. As a special token of appreciation, we gifted each teacher a “PVG Thumb Family Tree” frame, symbolizing the close bond and unity within our institution. This event was a sincere expression of our respect and admiration for their dedication and guidance.
On the occasion of Teachers’ Day on 5th September, the college organized a health camp for all teaching staff . The DLLE team assisted with registration and volunteered their support to ensure the event ran smoothly. This initiative aimed to promote the well-being of our teachers and express our gratitude for their dedication and hard work.
The E-Waste Collection Drive was organized from 23rd September at the college level to promote the betterment of our future. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of responsible e-waste disposal and encourage students and staff to recycle electronic waste. Participants actively contributed by bringing in their old electronic devices, helping to protect the environment and support sustainable practices.
On the occasion of 2nd October, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, we organized a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, during which we cleaned our college and school premises. This initiative aimed to promote cleanliness and raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a hygienic environment. Members participated enthusiastically, demonstrating our commitment to a cleaner and healthier community, in line with Gandhi’s vision for a clean India.

Mahaparinirvan Diwas Awareness Quiz – Honoring Dr. B.R. Ambedkar On 6th December 2024, on the occasion of Mahaparinirvan Diwas, we pay tribute to Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and a pioneer of social justice.To spread awareness about his contributions, we are organizing an online quiz with 10 thoughtprovoking questions through Google Forms. This initiative aims to educate and inspire individuals about Dr. Ambedkar’s life, struggles, and impact on Indian society.
On 3rd & 4th December 2024, we participated in PRAKHAR 2.0, an exciting inter-college fest organized by Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College of Arts, Science & Commerce (Empowered Autonomous Status). This grand event brought together students from various colleges to showcase their talents, skills, and creativity across multiple competitions. Our team actively participated in various events, demonstrating excellence, teamwork, and dedication. Through our hard work and enthusiasm, we achieved medals and certificates, making our college proud. A celebration of talent, competition, and victory – PRAKHAR 2.0 was an unforgettable experience!
On 19th December 2024, the DLLE (Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension) Unit actively participated in Sports Day Volunteering at a Primary English Medium School. Our team assisted in organizing various sports activities, ensuring smooth coordination, and encouraging young participants. Through our volunteering efforts, we contributed to the success of the event and created joyful memories for the children.

On 16th and 17th January 2025, the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) proudly hosted our first Inter-College Fest – KARMA 2025, with an exciting Bollywood theme. The event was a grand celebration of talent, creativity, and enthusiasm, bringing together students from various colleges.
Day 1 Events:
Reel Making – Participants showcased their creativity by making engaging short videos. Fireless Cooking – A fun competition where participants prepared delicious dishes without using fire. Singing – A platform for melodious voices to shine through solo and group performances. Mehendi – Artistic expression through intricate henna designs. Best Out of Waste – Participants created innovative items using recyclable materials. Street Play – A powerful medium to spread social awareness through impactful performances.
Day 2 Events:
Open Mic – A space for individuals to express their thoughts through poetry, storytelling, and comedy. Handkerchief Painting – A creative event where participants showcased artistic skills on fabric. Quiz – A fun and challenging competition testing general knowledge and quick thinking. Dancing – Enthralling performances featuring various dance forms. Mr. & Ms. Karma – A personality contest to crown the best all-rounder of the fest.
Each event provided a platform for students to display their skills, passion, and artistic expressions. KARMA 2025 was a memorable and energetic fest, fostering creativity, competition, and camaraderie, making it an unforgettable experience for all!
On 30th January 2025, we participated in UDAAN 2025, the annual fest of the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE). This event provided a platform to showcase creativity, talent, and social awareness through various competitions. Our team enthusiastically took part in Creative Writing, Elocution, Poster Making, and Street Play, demonstrating dedication and passion in each event. We proudly secured 3rd rank in the Poster Making Competition, adding to our achievements. UDAAN 2025 was a memorable experience filled with learning, expression, and teamwork, making it a truly inspiring and enriching event.

The exhibition aimed to educate and inspire students by providing valuable insights into different career paths, required skills, and future opportunities. This interactive event encouraged knowledge-sharing and helped students explore potential career options in an engaging and informative way.
On 20th February 2025, Career Project (CP) members prepared and presented a 5-minute talk on their chosen career topics, providing valuable insights into various professional fields. Each member also submitted their talk in a written format, ensuring a structured and informative approach. This initiative aimed to enhance research, presentation skills, and career awareness, helping students explore different career paths in a concise and impactful manner.
On 3rd January 2025, we celebrated Savitri Bai Phule Jayanti by organizing an Essay Writing Competition to honor her legacy and contributions to women’s education and social reform. The competition aimed to spread awareness about her remarkable efforts in advocating for gender equality and education. Students actively participated, expressing their thoughts and insights on her impact, making it a meaningful and inspiring event.
On 20th December 2024, Career Project (CP) members creatively designed brochures, booklets, and pamphlets on their chosen career topics. This initiative aimed to present career information in an engaging and visually appealing manner, helping students explore various professions, required skills, and future opportunities. The well-crafted materials served as valuable resources for career guidance and awareness.

These charts visually represented key career insights, including required skills, job opportunities, and growth prospects. This initiative aimed to enhance career awareness in an engaging and informative way, helping students explore various professional paths through well-structured and artistic presentations.
On 24th December 2024, our members organized a Secret Santa event, spreading joy and festive cheer. Participants exchanged surprise gifts, creating an atmosphere of excitement and togetherness. This fun-filled celebration strengthened bonds, encouraged kindness, and brought smiles to everyone. It was a memorable event that added warmth and happiness to the holiday season.
On 21st February 2025, we organized ENTREPRENEON-2025, an event showcasing entrepreneurial skills and teamwork. Members set up tables and prepared delicious food items, serving them to everyone with enthusiasm. This event aimed to promote business
awareness, creativity, and teamwork, giving participants hands-on experience in planning, marketing, and customer service. It was a fun and interactive initiative that encouraged entrepreneurial thinking and collaboration among students.
On 19th January 2025, we performed a street play on the crucial topic of “Safety of Women in India” at our college campus. On 8th March 2025, the NSS and DLLE units proudly celebrated International Women’s Day by organizing a special event focused on women’s safety and empowerment. A women’s safety training session was conducted for all female students and staff, equipping them with essential self-defense techniques and awareness skills.
